of lands and slaves owned by John Carter of
Wythe County, Virginia.
The document states, in part:
“List of lands with their improvements dwelling houses and
slaves owned by John Carter on the first day of Apl. 1815 lying
and being within the first district of the State of Virginia
Viz, in the County of Wythe – One farm lying on the west
side of New River containing four hundred acres having
thereon one dwelling house of wood two stories high 26 feet in
length by 20 feet in width one kitchen one loom house one
Negro house one barn and one corn crib on blacksmith
shop. Value at twenty two hundred dollars 00.00.
