    Description

    This is an old New York Circuit Court document, dated November, 1837.
    The document is concerned with a case from Washington County.
    This document is handwritten, and is signed by court clerk E. Dodd.
    This is
    Edward Dodd
    (1805-1891). Dodd was born in Salem, New York,
    and served as the clek of Washington County from 1835 to 1844.
    Dodd was a member of the New York Constitutional Convention in 1846.
    Edward Dodd was elected to the United States Congress for two terms,
    serving from 1855 to 1859. He later served as U.S. Marshall for the
    northern district of New York, from 1863 to 1869.
    The judge in this case was John Willard (1792-1862), who later
    served on the New York State Supreme Court from 1847 to 1853.
