    1839 Ship Bill of Lading for the Brig "Sarah Elizabeth, sailing from New York City to Cape Palmas, Africa (Liberia), carrying "one bag specie containing one hundred & thirty nine dollars" for Rev. John Payne (1815-1875), a Virginia born Protestant Episcopal Missionary to Liberia, who went on to become the first Bishop of the Diocese of Liberia.
