    1 pg. part-printed certificate, dated Nov. 24, 1865, from the School Committee of Ossipee, NH, certifying that Miss Susan M. Haines is qualified to teach a school in the town of Ossippee.
    Signed by two men, "Superintending the School Committee of Ossipee.
    5c Certificate Revenue stamp affixed at top left, properly cancelled with hand-written date (Nov. 24, 1865), and initials ("H.W." - Horace Wood, one of the men who signed the certificate).
    Reads:
    "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: This certifies that, in the opinion of the undersigned, Miss Susan M. Haines sustains a good moral character, and possesses a temper and disposition suitable for a teacher of youth; that she has a capacity for the government and discipline of a school, and is qualified to instruct in reading, writing, spelling, English grammar, geography, history, arithmetic, and such other branches of learning as are usually taught in public schools, in the town of Ossipee, Winter term, 1865...."
