Description
I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions to pass them along to you, and I always look for vintage and antique clothing and accessories, and have been collecting Japanese kimonos and fabric. These are pieces of vintage/antique Japanese silk kimono fabric that has been completely shibori dyed. The fabric has a white background and a regular pattern of dots have been painstakingly knotted as a resist to deep red dye, giving it a very raised, pebbly texture. The shibori work is excellent, leading me to believe that these are older pieces; it has the slight irregularity of handwork. There are three pieces here, two that measure 27" long by 3.5" wide and one measuring 20 by 3.5." The long edges of all are finished, and each piece is backed by white silk that is loosely basted on with black threads. The color is a dark red and the edges and dot centers look almost black.
This fabric is exceptional for its hand-done shibori. It is clean and appears unused, with no issues. I am hoping your creative imaginations will be spurred by this - it needs to be used and appreciated! If you are intrigued with this fabric, send me a message: I have two longer lengths of it that I would be willing to sell. Please check my other listings; I have two lovely men's silk kimonos, and I am happy to combine to save on shipping.
I am storing this in my smoke-free home. Please contact me for more information or photos. I am happy to combine items to save on shipping, so check my other listings too. Thanks for looking!
