  • Condition: This is a real deal 69 cast Small Block Chevy 4 bolt main engine block. The casting number is 3970010 and the casting date is K 8 9 which decodes as November 8th, 1969. The pad is stamped CE0A08194 which shows this block was originally a block sold as a warranty replacement or over the counter sale. These blocks are quite desirable since they are truly the next best thing to the block that was installed in your car from the factory. If your car had an engine problem that damaged the block under warranty, the dealer would install a 'CE" coded engine in its place. This engine is a 1970 model replacement cast in 1969. That makes it applicable to 1969 and up models. 1968 and earlier cars used a different casting number due to the PCV port at the rear of the block. These real deal factory 4 bolt main blocks are becoming very hard to find, especially in standard bore condition like this one.

I bought this block from the owner of a 1962 Corvette. This engine came in the Corvette in good running condition when he bought it. In the 80's, he built and date code correct shortblock for the Corvette for judging purposes and removed this one. It sat in the corner of his garage until this year. I bought the engine as a shortblock and tore it down to confirm the condition. The engine still had the original bearings in it as well as the original pistons, crank, etc. The shortblock had never been apart since the factory assembled it. I have the rods, pistons and crank still but I don't anyone will want them since the engine was a 300HP with cast crank and pistons.  The cylinders are still standard bore with a slight ridge at the tops and some wear from removing the pistons that will bore out. There are no cracks, breaks, repairs, or modifications to this block. The block still wears its original paint and even had some of the original inspection marks intact as shown.   There are no sleeves, pitting, etc. All threads are in good shape with no helicoils or thread inserts. The main caps are original to the block with no spun bearing journals or other damage. This is simply an awesome factory 4 bolt main block that has survived the test of time.
