    Description

I believe this is from Japan and possibly from a kimono (?); perhaps hung off it? Extremely old! Real GOLD was used to hand embroider, and appears to be hand spun and dyed silks. Has been framed for the 50 years we’ve had it. It’s not framed now, but carefully stored. Museum quality. I have no idea where my mother in law got it, but it was passed down to us. I’m downsizing and it needs to be with a person who knows about this sort of thing and will conserve it. I do know a bit about textiles and this is extremely old. I’d venture to say 1600s to 1700 ( could be older), but that is my opinion.it is NOT a new piece or reproduction, because it’s been in family for very long time!
Size is between 15.25” and 10.25” . It is handmade , so not perfect.
The backing is handsewn on and appears to be a raw silk to me. It looks like a flax or muslin, but I believe it is handmade raw silk that is very old.
    This is real gold thread!

Check back for more listings to come. I will be listing antiques, quilting related items from my quilt room, books (antique and new of history or quilting, etc), Cherokee baskets and pottery, antique furniture, items of all kinds from my home after years of collecting.
Shipping price is for within the U.S. ,overseas shipping is available. I’d have to calculate the rate once I know where it’s going.
The reasons for no returns is I will package extremely well and I know they are in perfect condition, unless I’ve noted flaws. Antique or fragile items do not need to be shipped back and forth, back and forth. I’ve had an experience where someone returned a fragile antique item that I’d shipped them well packaged and arrived well. I agreed to a return and they just tossed it in a box and it got damaged coming back to me, when they simply changed their mind. So please understand.
