    Description

DESCRIPTION:  This is an Antique Japanese Woven Obi Sash for a Kimono.  This amazing vibrant Silk Textile showcases Flowers and Leaves on a ground of beautiful orange.  We find Teal/Turquoise, Golden, and light Orange flowers covering BOTH Sides of the Obi, punctuated by beautiful contrasting leaves.  Extremely fine to the touch.  We tested a loose end orange thread by burning, and it indicated Silk: flame going out and forming a bead, then crushing to ash.  The beautiful interplay of the orange and teal colors is impossible to capture on photos- this is a beautiful piece!
Acquired 30 years ago from an elderly Japanese woman, living in Hawaii, along with some other beautiful "antique" and "semi-antique" textiles.  It was sold to me as an Antique Silk Obi, with another Obi (listed separately on my site), and an Old Semi-Antique Kasuri Ikat Indigo Kimono (also listed separately).  This listing is for THIS Obi only, alone.
    SIZE: 6 3/8" wide X 121" (10 feet long).
WEIGHT: 10.9 Ounces. I believe this will weigh more than 1 pound when boxed and wrapped well.
CONDITION:  Very Good Condition with signs of light wear and tear consistent with age and use.  Not perfect but well cared for, and a very nice example of an Antique silk textile that has been worn and has traveled Continents.  There are a few small smudges, a few small stains, and small water stains noted, and an ink spot stain -one side only, does not penetrate to other side. (see photo #6 to left).  There is a thread basted loosely across width ~36" from one end which I did not remove.  No holes noted or gross damage.  Overall in good used Antique Condition, and presents beautifully.  Please use photos to help determine appearance and condition and zoom in as needed.  Photos with and without Flash.
    SPECIAL SHIPPING:
I am estimating this  will need a custom box about 12" X 10" X 10" and will be the equivalent cost of a USPS LARGE Flat Rate Priority Box.  Should you choose Priority and it costs LESS we will refund the difference.  We always pay Insurance.  You can save money by picking USPS Retail Ground, but it can take 10 days depending on your location.
PLEASE contact me before paying if you are buying multiple items and I will quote for adjusted combined shipping price.  Thanks!
I have been buying Antique Trade Beads for almost 50 years, and had a Wholesale and Retail Bead Store, Folk Art, and Tribal Art Store in Greensboro, NC for some 25 years (Lost and Found Gallery), and am now semi-retired.  We are just beginning to sell on eBay.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about the beads.
Sorry but we can only ship to the Continental USA at this time, but hope to expand in the near future.
PAYMENT: We accept PayPal, but hope to expand your options in the near future
SHIPPING: We Pack very well, insure, and (usually) ship USPS Priority*
*Please NOTE: for HEAVY (1 Lb. and over) and LARGE Packages You Can PICK USPS RETAIL GROUND to SAVE MONEY BUT it Takes Much LONGER to Arrive!!  Toggle Choice.
