    Description

Apollo 10 was the fourth manned mission of NASA's Apollo program and launched on May 18, 1969 with Thomas P. Stafford [1930] as commander, John Young [1930 2018] as Command Module Pilot and Eugene Cernan [1934 2017] as Lunar Module Pilot. The mission was considered to be critical to the Apollo Program and is refereed to as a ''Dress Rehearsal'' mission for the upcoming first attempt at an actual landing. The mission was crucial for testing all the components and procedures for a lunar landing and during the testing the lunar module came within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface, the point where powered descent for landing would began. After orbiting the moon 31 times the crew also set the record for highest speed attained by a crewed vehicle of 24,791 mph on their trip home which splashdown on May 26, 1969. Listed for auction is a stunning framed display which contains a Apollo 10 crew signed lithograph. The image is a vintage NASA WSS lithograph released by their upcoming mission and the autographs are signed on their images as follows, ''Gene Cernan'' in black felt pen, ''John Young'' in blue felt tip pen and Tom Stafford'' in blue felt tip pen, The lithograph measures 8.00 x 10.00 inches, the white border around the edges was lightly trimmed [all contained behind the mat] otherwise it is in fine condition. The autographs were authenticated by Zarelli Space Authentication and will be accompanied with the Above Letter of Authenticity. The lithograph has been mounted within a beautiful custom framed display which contains a Apollo 10 mission patch and a professionally engraved plaque which reads as follows. ''Apollo 10 A Dress Rehearsal. Thomas P. Stafford - Commander - John W. Young - Command Module Pilot - Eugene A. Cernan- Lunar Module Pilot. The Apollo 10 Mission launched on May 18, 1969 with the goal of simulating a descent to the lunar surface. The Mission's crew went through the steps of separating the command module from the lunar lander and while under power, the descent reached within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface. The mission duration was 8 days, 3 minutes, 23 seconds and was a key test ahead of the successful Apollo 11 landing on July 20, 1969. The display has been professionally triple matted in all acid free materials and assembled as follows. The outer matte is an unique blue/grey linen which has been accented with a silver and a dark blue inner matte. The display has been assembled in a quality silver wood frame to the dimensions of 26.00 x 15.00 inches and it is stunning. The autographs are genuine, authenticated examples of a difficult crew to obtain, signed on a vintage NASA lithograph, beautifully framed and ready to be displayed.
