Apollo 11 was the fifth manned mission of NASA's Apollo program and the first to land on the moon. The crew consisted of Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin. On July 20, 1969 astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped on the lunar surface and fulfilled a nations goal set by President John F. Kennedy nearly a decade earlier. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stayed for 21 and a half hours on the lunar surface and the crew returned to earth on July 24, 1969. Listed for auction is an commemorative cover signed by the complete Apollo 11 mission crew. The cover is an Apollo 11 recovery commemorative which contains an attractive ink cachet of the Apollo 11 capsule, the U.S.S. Hornet in the back round, along with the names of the crew. The autographs of the crew are bold, clear and display wonderfully on this white cover and have been authenticated and also given an autograph grade of 10. The Armstrong autograph is signed ''Neil Armstrong'' in black felt pen, the autograph of Aldrin is signed ''Buzz Aldrin'' in blue felt tip pen and the autograph of Collins is signed ''Mike Collins'' in black felt tip pen. The cover is postmarked Cape Canaveral, FL July 24, 1969, [return date] and is affixed with one U.S. commemorative postage stamp. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.75 inches and is in fine condition. Authenticity....The complete set of autographs were reviewed and authenticated by Zarelli Space Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. Also included with the auction is an Apollo 11 crew photograph, a vintage Apollo 11 cloth mission patch [still in its originally plastic wrapper] along with an attractive engraved plaque containing the names of the crew, everything needed for a framed display. The cover is very attractive, the signatures are bold, clear, graded a 10 and it will be very difficult to find a nicer example of this historic Apollo 11 crew.
