    Information:
    The allocation was approved by a highly controversial act of congress known as the Dawes Severalty Act of 1887, intended for the allocation of Indian lands to each member of the various tribes. The Act was signed into law by President Grover Cleveland on February 8, 1887. Under the terms, each head of family received a grant of 160 acres of land. A single person over 18 years old received 80 acres, while minors under the age of 18 years received 40 acres. Historic document!
