    Description

A rare original manuscript prisoner release order from the Governor and Council of the State of Rhode Island to release Caleb Bradley, a prisoner in the jail at Bristol, charged with treason against the State. The document is dated May 1, 1843, with the requirement that Bradley sign an Oath of Allegiance to the State, and post a bond of 00.00. Bradley was obviously a prisoner because of involvement in the ill-fated Dorr's Rebellion, which sought elimination from the State constitution of property ownership as a qualification to vote ......[We previously sold Bradley's actual signed Oath but this document was found later in a totally unrelated group of documents] .......Four pages, size  8 1/2" x 10 1/2", folds, fourth page blank, very good condition, possibly unique.......Guaranteed original........00 shipping............
Fifty years in business. 14 day return. Check our feed backs and buy with confidence. Payment expected within three days unless other arrangements are made. Thank you for looking........
