Sony D-9 Portable Discman Vintage Audiophile CD Player Untested For Parts

The world’s slowest yard sale continues… time to move this along to a new home.
Have had this a looooong time. 25 years?
I can’t find the power cord….
I found a non-Sony power cord that had the right volts/amps and plugged in but didn’t get any reaction, so selling for parts.
I can’t say whether it works, and/or whether these batteries would hold any charge if re-charge.
Note on the top of the players there’s some marking. This might be from the case starting to degrade over the years - note the edges of the case also seem a bit rough.
Hope this can be a great project for someone. Wish I knew where the power cord went!
