    Description

    STS-1 [Space Transportation System-1] was the first orbital spaceflight of NASA's Space Shuttle Program. The orbiter, Columbia launched on April 12, 1981 and was commanded by John W. Young [1930 2018] and pilot Robert L. Crippen [1937]. The mission was the only maiden test flight of a new American spacecraft to carry a crew and completed 36 orbits of the earth over a span of 54 hours.
    Listed for auction is a limited edition composite photograph signed by mission commander John W. Young and mission pilot Robert L. Crippen. The photograph is number #11 of only 50 which were released by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the flight of STS-1. The autographs are signed ''John Young'' and ''Bob Crippen'' in silver pen. The photograph is a quality image containing various images from this historic mission and measures 15.00 x 12.00 inches and is in fine condition. The photograph has been handsomely double matted to the dimensions of 21.00 x 18.00 inches. The photograph will be accompanied with a certificate of authenticity from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation which has been affixed to the back of the display. This is a very desirable signed image from the historic STS-1 Space Shuttle mission, limited to only 50, in fine condition and ready for display .
